CMT measures students from grades 3 through 8 on their academic proficiency in reading, writing, and math. The subgroups reported are testing performance level, grade, race, English language learners, special education students, and students eligible for free or reduced-price meals. The test was used from SY2005-06 through SY2012-13. In SY2013-14, nearly all school districts opted to use the Smarter Balanced Assessment Consortium (SBAC) as a field test, with individual student results not reported. SBAC is mandatory starting with SY2014-15. Connecticut State Department of Education collected test results for grades 3 through 8 in the spring of each year. Testing for science began in grade 5. CTdata.org carries annual results for grades 3, 4, and 8 for all subjects in which students were tested.
