  • Description
Education Cost Sharing (ECS) reports the ECS grant amount and town wealth for Connecticut towns.
  • Full Description
The ECS grant is the largest general education assistance grant to Connecticut towns. Grant money is allocated based on the ECS formula, which considers the number of students in the school district, the educational needs of the students, and the town's wealth to determine each town's grant amount. The ECS formula is intended to equalize state education funding to towns. See Technical Notes for a complete description of the ECS formula and for recent legislative changes to the ECS formula. ECS funding was frozen at the state fiscal year 2009 level in fiscal years 2010 and 2011. School years 2011-12, 2012-13, and 2013-14 include alliance district grants. Connecticut State Department of Education reports and CTdata.org carries annual data.
